Katandra West, a school of approximately 65 students, prides itself on the provision of a vibrant curriculum of Literacy, Numeracy, the Arts, Science, Physical Education, Music and Personal Development. Katandra West PS has recently become a ‘Kids Matter’ school which is a whole of community approach to developing wellbeing amongst students and families. Staff has trained in two of the four components. The school is implementing a social emotional program called ‘Bounce back’ which builds on students’ learning the pro social behaviours for a successful life. This program complements the school’s values.

These values which underpin all actions and decisions at the school are:

  • Sharing
  • Persistence
  • Outgoing
  • Respectful
  • Truthful
  • Successful

The school is very well resourced with large, airy classrooms, a multipurpose space, science and library area as well as art and music spaces. It has a well-equipped computer laboratory. The grounds are extensive including a large sports oval an amphitheatre, tennis courts, a huge undercover area, a vegetable garden and a soon to be completed chook pen. A shady memorial garden provides quiet space for students.
